Ashley Larson represents corporate clients, insureds, and insurance companies in matters of crisis management, premises liability, negligent security, wrongful death, personal injury, transportation, products liability, insurance bad faith, uninsured/underinsured motorist claims, and appellate work. Ashley regularly works with insurance carriers and self-insureds in the defense of matters ranging from pre-suit investigations through trial and any appeal.

Ashley has tried cases successfully in both state and federal court in Colorado. She has defended and pursued appeals before the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ashley has investigated, advised, trained, and defended her corporate clients on catastrophic third-party criminal act incidents, including active shooters. Ashley has obtained Rule 12(b)(5) dismissals and summary judgment for her various clients on issues in premises liability, exculpatory agreements, and insurance bad faith.

  • Obtained defense verdict on premises liability claim in which plaintiff alleged $3.5 million in injuries, damages, and losses.
  • Obtained favorable jury verdict in admitted liability premises liability matter in which plaintiff alleged past and future injuries, damages, and losses in the eight-figure range.
  • Achieved multiple defense verdicts for retailers and insureds in premises liability matters.
  • Obtained directed verdict on lack of notice in premises liability trial, later affirmed on appeal.
  • Obtained directed verdicts in premises liability trials limiting plaintiff’s recoverable damages at trial.
  • Obtained dismissal with prejudice of a premises liability action against a restaurant franchisor and awarded attorney’s fees and costs that was later affirmed on appeal.
  • Obtained summary judgment resulting in dismissal of all claims for retailer in a products liability case, later affirmed on appeal.
  • Drafted appellate briefing resulting in reversal and remand for a new trial on all issues for insurer client.
  • Obtained a directed verdict at trial dismissing statutory delay claim under C.R.S. § 10-3- 1115, and drafted appellate briefing where the Colorado Court of Appeals later affirmed the directed verdict
  • Obtained judgment in favor of an insurance company in U.S. District Court, prevailing on plaintiff’s claims of breach of contract, and statutory and common law bad faith claims. The District Court held plaintiff forfeited his right to recover under the contract, after the jury found plaintiff failed to cooperate with the insurer.
  • Obtained summary judgment in U.S. District Court limiting damages recoverable under C.R.S. § 10-3- 1115/1116.
  • Achieved summary judgment for insurance company client on claims of common law bad faith and C.R.S. § 10-3- 1115/1116 based on claim preclusion.
  • Successfully defended against motions to add claims for exemplary damages against insurance company and retailer clients.
  • Obtained summary judgment enforcing exculpatory provisions of a recreational facility’s membership agreement, resulting in dismissal of action and an award of costs.
  • Obtained award of sanctions, including fees and costs, for plaintiff’s counsel’s discovery violations.
